We’ve added automatic low-battery SMS alerts to all our maps, giving participants a timely nudge to charge their tracker before it goes flat. Participants no longer need to monitor their own battery, and organisers can rely on the platform to do the chasing for them.
How does it work?
When a tracker’s battery falls below a pre-set threshold, the map sends the participant an SMS: “Low battery: GPS tracker at XX%. Please charge.” If the battery stays low, a follow-up is sent at the chosen re-send interval – so participants get a reminder if they haven’t charged yet, without being bombarded.
Organisers can set the trigger threshold anywhere between 10% and 50%, and pick a re-send interval that suits the event. It’s all configured from within the map manager.

Why does it matter?
A flat tracker means a missing dot, and a missing dot means worried dot-watchers, frustrated organisers and a participant who may not even realise there’s a problem. Most low-battery situations are easily solved with a quick charge and this can even be done on the move.
These alerts close that gap automatically. Participants stay visible on the map, organisers spend less time on the phone and everyone gets on with the race.
Getting set up
The alerts only work with trackers that report a battery percentage (such as our Queclink devices) and require a phone number – including the full country code – to be loaded for each participant. Organisers can opt in to low-battery alerts when completing our agreement form, and then simply need to provide a participant list with phone numbers that we can import during the map build.
